Keeping the Dignity

HFN Nursing Agency would like to remind you of a few home truths about old age and how to treat our loved ones.

We should never argue with the aged, they deserve respect and our patience to rather divert a potential argument; distract and encourage positive thinking.

We should also not have expectations of them to remember or reason. This is our work. We must allow them to do things for themselves and do things with them that is achievable. 

We are of great service to our aged folk when we reminisce with them and repeat ourselves. Ask them to tell the old stories again and again.

The focus these days is a lot on Alzheimer’s/Dementia but we have many aged family that are as sharp as a pin and still enjoy listening to the latest news, music and keeping busy with hobbies and friends.

The simple rule of treating others they way you would like to be treated when you are old and frail one day, applies here to us not so old folk.
